FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS MUDDY PRINCESS?
Muddy Princess is an outdoor 5km (3.1 mile) obstacle mud run for WOMEN ONLY with an emphasis on having a “girls’ dirty day out” in the mud. We don’t focus on fastest times or competition, we focus on fun! We have between 18-20 obstacles with a variety of challenges, so be prepared to run/walk/ crawl/climb/ slide/ balance and laugh your way to the finish line.
WHAT SETS MUDDY PRINCESS APART FROM OTHER RUNS?
We love women! And this run is all about celebrating women in all their glorious forms. We want to bring you an experience where you feel like a Princess even while crawling through the mud. This is girl power, best friend bonding, “wow, I never thought I’d be able to do that” memory-making day out for ladies ONLY.
WHAT KIND OF OBSTACLES CAN I EXPECT?
To bring you the most fun day out in the mud, we have designed a variety of obstacles to keep you challenged and entertained. You can expect to:
DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE ALL THE OBSTACLES?
We encourage our Princesses to learn more about themselves, their boundaries, and possibly their limitations at our events. If an obstacle is too much for you, you are welcome to walk through and continue your run.
IS THERE A TIME LIMIT?
We don’t focus on time tracking or competition. Once you are on the course, you can complete the run as fast or as slowly as you like. There is no pressure to run; you can walk the entire course at your leisure.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
As this is an outdoor, physical event, we suggest that you wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. We also encourage our participants to make a statement by dressing up and showing off their inner Princess. Think tutus, tiaras, unicorns, fairies, bright colors, glitter, and let your imagination go wild.
CAN MY CHILDREN DO THE RUN?
Yes, but there is a minimum age limit.
As this is a race strictly for women, we only allow little Princesses to participate as well. Please be advised that all Princesses registered to run the course are charged the same price because they all receive the same experience. And due to the event’s nature, there are also some age limits.
7 – 13 years – A registered, participating adult MUST accompany little Princesses. It is up to parents to use proper judgment when helping youngsters decide which obstacles to do or to skip based on their ability, size, and confidence levels. A parent or legal guardian MUST sign event waivers on event day.
14+ years – do not require an accompanying adult but must adhere to all course rules and regulations. A parent or legal guardian MUST sign event waivers on event day.
Please note – no waiver, no run, and no exceptions.
Six years and younger – unfortunately cannot participate in our Muddy Princess run. Still, they can come and hang out at our Village (adult supervision required), where there are food and drink stalls available and space for everyone to relax and watch the Muddy fun from afar.
WHAT TIME SHOULD I SHOW UP AT THE EVENT?
We suggest that all Princesses plan to arrive 1 hour ahead of your scheduled wave time. Please go straight to the Registration tents to get your colored wristband and hand in your waiver and then feel free to mingle in our Village while waiting to be called for your heat.
HOW LONG WILL THE RUN TAKE TO COMPLETE?
The run can take an hour to three hours to complete; it totally depends on you and how fast or slowly you want to run/walk/crawl/skip/hop or shimmy the course. The average time is two hours of mud-filled fun!
HOW MANY PEOPLE START IN A WAVE?
We average between 150 – 250 Princesses in each wave, depending on the size of the event.
CAN I REGISTER ON THE DAY?
However, we cannot guarantee a spot in a specific wave time. We always recommend that you book in advance, but, in the unlikely event that we aren’t sold out, a few open slots may be available.
WHAT IF IT RAINS ON EVENT DAY?
At Muddy Princess, we don’t let a little (or a giant pool full of) mud stop us, so we certainly aren’t going to let a little rain get in our way, either. We are a rain-or-shine event, so unless we have specifically contacted you to say otherwise, please assume that the race is on!
Weather conditions that would stop our fun are lightning, hurricanes, tornadoes, forest fires, earthquakes, extreme hail, or blizzards. It’s very important to note that should the event need to be postponed due to forces beyond our control, we will do our best to find a new date (and possibly a new venue too) as soon as possible and all tickets will immediately be transferred to the new event. No refunds are issued for a weather cancellation.
WHERE CAN I STORE MY THINGS?
We have a Bag-drop ($5) where you can safely leave your stuff until you have completed the course.
CAN JOURNALISTS RUN FOR FREE?
Please contact email@example.com for more details.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE RUN?
Your smile, your ticket, some ID, your gear, some cash.
To make your day as hassle free as possible, we encourage our Princesses to bring the following items as well:
DOES MUDDY PRINCESS NEED VOLUNTEERS?
We are always looking for fun loving Princesses to help us create a celebratory atmosphere at our events. Please click on the VOLUNTEERS link on the website for more information or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
WILL THERE BE ENOUGH PARKING?
We choose our venues very carefully to ensure that there is enough space to accommodate all our Princesses and their families, spectators and supporters.
Normal parking – $10 per car
VIP parking – $20 per car (VIP parking is limited and is first come first serve)
Certain venues – flat rate $15 (please check individual events for details)
CAN I BRING SPECTATORS WITH?
We always encourage our Princesses to travel with their entourage so husbands, kids and cheering squads are most welcome to accompany you. There is no additional spectator fee. We have a Village where they can cheer you at the Start and celebrate you at the Finish Line. They can explore the food and drink stalls, or sit and relax while they wait for you to have your fun in the mud.
Please note – We do not have a designated spectator zone along the course. While it may be fun to have your hubby watch you wade through the mud or climb the tyre tower, we ask that you respect the privacy of all our Princesses and that all spectators remain in the Village and not venture onto the course.
Due to the set up of the different venues, we cannot guarantee that the course will remain private and we do not police spectators along the route.
Blankets and camping chairs are permitted but no gazebos, pop-up sun shelters, canopies, umbrellas or portable BBQs are allowed.
I DON’T WANT MY CAR TO GET MUDDY, WILL THERE BE SHOWERS AVAILABLE?
We offer a free rinse off station where you can get most of the mud off. We always advise that you bring extra towels and bin bags to protect the interior of your car from your posterior on the drive home.
