Frequently Asked Questions

Muddy Princess is an outdoor 5km (3.1 mile) obstacle mud run for WOMEN ONLY with an emphasis on having a “girls’ dirty day out” in the mud. We don’t focus on fastest times or competitions, we focus on fun! We have between 18-20 obstacles with a variety of challenges so be prepared to run/walk/ crawl/climb/ slide/ balance and laugh your way to the finish line.

We love women! And this run is all about celebrating women in all their glorious forms. We want to bring you an experience where you feel like a Princess even while crawling through the mud. This is a girl power, best friend bonding, “wow, I never thought I’d be able to do that” memory making day out for ladies ONLY.

To bring you the most fun day out in the mud, we have designed a variety of obstacles to keep you challenged and entertained. You can expect to:

  • Wade, crawl or paddle through water and mud
  • Climb ropes, nets and tyre towers
  • Traverse across balance obstacles
  • Slide, glide, shimmy and roll down poles, small hills and embankments
  • Move over, through or under poles, climbing frames and barrels

No!

We encourage all of our Princesses to learn more about themselves, their boundaries and possibly their limitations at our events. If you feel that an obstacle is a little too much for you, you are welcome to walk through and continue your run.

No!

We don’t focus on time tracking or competition. Once you are on the course, you are free to complete the run as fast or as slowly as you like. There is no pressure to run, you can walk the entire course at your leisure.

As this is an outdoor, physical event, we do suggest that you wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. We also really encourage our participants to make a statement by dressing up and showing off their inner Princess. Think tutus, tiaras, unicorns, fairies, bright colours, glitter and let your imagination go wild.

Yes, but there is a minimum age limit.

As this is a race strictly for women, we only allow little Princesses to participate as well. Please be advised that all Princesses registered to run the course are charged the same price because they all receive the same experience. And due to the nature of the event, there are some age limits as well.

7 – 13 years – Little Princesses MUST be accompanied by a registered, participating adult. It is up to parents to use proper judgement when helping youngsters decide which obstacles to do or to skip based on their ability, size and confidence levels. Event waivers MUST be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

14+ years – do not require an accompanying adult but must adhere to all course rules and regulations. Event waivers MUST be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Waivers are available on our website to download. Please print them out, sign them and bring them with to the event to be handed in at registration. Please note – no waiver, no run, no exceptions.

6 years and younger – unfortunately cannot participate in our Muddy Princess run but they can come and hang out at our Village (adult supervision required) where there are food and drink stalls available and space for everyone to relax and watch the Muddy fun from afar.

We suggest that all Princesses plan to arrive 1 hour ahead of your scheduled wave time. Please go straight to the Registration tents to get your colored wristband and hand in your waiver and then feel free to mingle in our Village while waiting to be called for your heat.

The run can take anything from an hour to three hours to complete, it totally depends on you and how fast or slowly you want to run/walk/crawl/skip/hop or shimmy the course. The average time is two hours of mud filled fun!

We average between 150 – 250 Princesses in each wave, depending on the size of the event.

Yes!

However, we cannot guarantee you a spot in a specific wave time. We always recommend that you book in advance but, in the unlikely event that we aren’t sold out, there may be a few open slots available.

At Muddy Princess, we don’t let a little (or a giant pool full of) mud stop us so we certainly aren’t going to let a little rain get in our way either. We are a rain or shine event, so, unless we have specifically contacted you to say otherwise, please assume that race is on!

Weather conditions that would stop our fun are: lightning, hurricanes, tornadoes, forest fires, earthquakes, extreme hail or blizzards. It’s very important to note that should the event need to be postponed due to forces beyond our control, we will do our best to find a new date (and possibly a new venue too) as soon as possible and all tickets will immediately be transferred to the new event. No refunds are issued for a weather cancellation.

We have a Bag-drop ($5) where you can safely leave your stuff until you have completed the course.

Please contact info@muddyprincess.com for more details.

Your smile, your ticket, some ID, your gear, some cash.

To make your day as hassle free as possible, we encourage our Princesses to bring the following items as well:

  • a change of clothes,
  • a towel to dry yourself off,
  • sunscreen
  • water bottle or camel pack
  • garbage bags for your dirty clothes and shoes (trust us, the mud gets everywhere!)

We are always looking for fun loving Princesses to help us create a celebratory atmosphere at our events. Please click on the VOLUNTEERS link on the website for more information or email volunteers@muddyprincess.com.

We choose our venues very carefully to ensure that there is enough space to accommodate all our Princesses and their families, spectators and supporters.

Normal parking – $10 per car

VIP parking – $20 per car (VIP parking is limited and is first come first serve)

Certain venues – flat rate $15 (please check individual events for details)

Yes!

We always encourage our Princesses to travel with their entourage so husbands, kids and cheering squads are most welcome to accompany you. There is no additional spectator fee. We have a Village where they can cheer you at the Start and celebrate you at the Finish Line. They can explore the food and drink stalls, or sit and relax while they wait for you to have your fun in the mud.

Please note – We do not have a designated spectator zone along the course. While it may be fun to have your hubby watch you wade through the mud or climb the tyre tower, we ask that you respect the privacy of all our Princesses and that all spectators remain in the Village and not venture onto the course.

Due to the set up of the different venues, we cannot guarantee that the course will remain private and we do not police spectators along the route.

Blankets and camping chairs are permitted but no gazebos, pop-up sun shelters, canopies, umbrellas or portable BBQs are allowed.

We offer a free rinse off station where you can get most of the mud off. We always advise that you bring extra towels and bin bags to protect the interior of your car from your posterior on the drive home.

Not to worry, Princess! You will always have the option to walk or wade through the mud and, if you really don’t feel comfortable with that, you are welcome to walk through the obstacle and continue on your way!
